Head teachers message
At the end of an epic year it is time to take stock and reflect on what has been achieved and to say thank you to the people who have made this happen. The Queen's Jubilee Gallery Day was a wonderful event which helped to showcase the talents of our children. It has been fantastic to return to events which enable us to connect together. The Kindness Cafe was another example of where our children presented their talents through singing, organising and supporting others. The Sports Day events enabled us to watch and enjoy seeing our children excel as they aspired to be the best they can. I am sure you would agree, it was marvellous to watch and enjoy this event. We hope that next year we will continue to build on this platform of coming together and working with you to achieve the best outcomes for your child.
We wish our lovely Year 6 all the very best as they move on to their new schools. Thank you for the very precious memories you have created this year. For me in particular, it will be the residential, camping at Kinver and seeing you push yourselves from your comfort zones. What a wonderful time we had!
At the end of this year it is also time to say some goodbyes. Mrs Ferguson, after 22 years at Red Hall has made the decision to move on to another School. She will leave a large hole in many hearts as she has made such amazing contributions to our school and community. We wish her all the best for the future. Mrs Parkes, one of our cleaners, after 27 years, has decided that retirement is the right path for her. We wish her many a happy hour fishing, enjoying time with her family either at home or camping. We are so very grateful for the time she has given to our school and her years of service. We wish Miss Brettle good luck as she leaves to go on maternity leave - we can't wait to meet your new family member. Miss Bägust recently got married (Congratulations!) and is now the new Mrs Shinton. She will still be in KS1 from September.
Please find below an overview of our end of year data. Where National figures are known these have been included. This will be updated as the Government releases the data in the Autumn term. This represents a huge amount of work and success from your children and the Red Hall team.

Red Hall Football News
The School football team have been crowned champions of the league after beating Milking Bank 2-1 in an end to end games the team showed all the school values to achieve this and were an asset to the school. CONGRATULATIONS!
Year 6 Residential to Kinver
Year 6 had a two night camping trip to Kinver where they took part in a variety of activities including: climbing, abseiling, archery, zipwire and orienteering. It was amazing to see them overcome fears, work in teams and solve problems together. They demonstrated the CREATE values throughout the trip and their good behaviour was commented on by the activity leaders. We are all very proud of the children that took part.
Nursery news
Nursery have been doing their 'Watch Me Grow' Topic this term, we have learnt lots about how animals and fruits and vegetables grow. We have covered the life cycle of a chicken and bread, linking to our story 'The Little Red Hen'. We have looked at 'The Enormous Turnip' and learnt about where vegetables grow. We have enjoyed a lovely trip to Brockswood Animal Sanctuary where we petted and fed farm animals and had a picnic with our families.
We also enjoyed our Fathers Day event, where a special adult was invited in to hear us sing and do a building challenge.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish the nursery children all the best as they move up to Reception!
Reception news
Year Reception have been extremely busy this term exploring the 'land of the dinosaurs' and extending their learning in the outdoor environment.
They have enjoyed working towards the next outdoor award and sharing their work with parents/carers. The children were excited to take part in kindness day and the Jubilee celebration. They are now looking forward to their picnic!

Beat the street is here!
Dudley is being transformed into a giant game and your school is invited to play!
Beat the Street is a free, fun, walking and cycling game which gets staff, pupils and their families out and about in the local area, having fun and keeping healthy. The Dudley game runs from 29th June to 10th August 2022.
Beat the Street is designed to get children and communities moving by helping people to make small changes, such as walking or cycling to school every day, to improve health and help embed physical activity into everyday life. So far 1.5 million people and 4,500 schools have taken part in games across the UK and beyond. Evidence shows that the programme really helps adults and children become more active. Participation in Beat the Street can also:
· Provide evidence on wellbeing which can be used in OFSTED inspections
· Act alongside, or as a support to: Active travel/Daily Mile/Daily Boost programmes
· Help the school and its pupils achieve the Department of Health’s target of 60 minutes per day for young people
· Reduce traffic and air pollution around the school
· Help engage the wider school community
Kindness cafe
On the 19th June, we held our Wellbeing cafe in the KS1 hall. The Wellbeing Cafe was a wonderful event that our Wellbeing Warriors not only helped to organise but also run. Well done! We hope everyone who came along enjoyed themselves. Our Reception and Y2 children sang at the cafe and they were was absolutely fantastic. The Dudley Mayoress (Councillor Sue Greenaway) also attended the event. We raise over £540 at the cafe! Thank you to everyone who made the event a success.
Wellbeing Award for Schools
We are delighted to announce we have been successful in obtaining the prestigious Wellbeing Award for Schools.
Here are some of the highlights from the report:
The school's commitment to living its CREATE values (Caring, Respect, Equality, Aspiring, Trust and Enjoyment) which have wellbeing at their heart.
- Counselling services which are available and well used by both adults and children.
- Teaching and Learning approaches are strong: mindfulness strategies are embedded throughout the school and teachers universally recognising the learner as a person with emotional and psychological needs. This was consistently evidenced through the school tour, where learners in a range of classes were able to explain breathing techniques that they had learned to support self-regulation. This approach is further supported by the Red Hall Pyramid of needs, which puts quality first teaching at the heart of all intervention.
- Parent interviews were consistently positive; all commented on the open and inclusive nature of the leadership team at the school. The feel valued and supported. Several parents shared stories of complex and turbulent times at home and were clear that the school had served as a lifeline at these points.
- Pupils were articulate and confident when talking about their feelings and needs. This included pupils with SEND and very young learners (EYFS, KS1). I enjoyed speaking with key stage 2 pupils about more challenging topics such as bullying and social media.
The school's approach to wellbeing is having a clear qualitative and quantitative impact. The Governing board holds the headteacher to account for the wellbeing provision in the school and the overarching wellbeing strategy for all stakeholders. Second round stakeholder evaluations demonstrate incremental progress across KPIs. Headlines include:
- Pupils being more comfortable with talking about feelings. Pupils are benefiting from the creation of designated spaces such as they wellbeing room. The gardening group has also benefited from being involved in nurturing plants and wildlife.
- Parents are engaging with wellbeing videos and tips on Facebook. These resources are strategically drip fed aligned to the themes for the term. An open-door policy is made use of by parents and a full-time pastoral lead has engages with a wide range of parents on the gate.
- The curriculum has been revised to integrate the PSHE provision onto wellbeing programmes, the appointment of a Y4 educational psychologist to share expertise. This includes running talking and drawing sessions for pupils on Mondays.
- Staff CPD is rich and relevant to the needs of the community; staff have benefitted from ACEs training, domestic abuse training, national college training, SMHL specific training, training from ELSA. The leadership team have planned bereavement training to respond to high levels of community loss as a result of Covid.
- The community has been actively engaged with kindness weeks and this has been a valuable point of connection for pupils and staff.
Well done to the Red Hall team for achieving this. Special thanks to Mrs Ashworth who was the lead on this for our school.
